Bummas Wipes

This giveaway is now closed, but please enjoy the review!

Hi, I am the Creative Madness Mama and we cloth diaper. It’s been about nine months now and we still use disposable wipes. *gasp* I know!!! I’m sorry! I just cannot help it! At first it was just because they were to expensive that we had not bought any. Then we did buy some Organic Imse Vimse Wipes and that was the worst purchase I have ever made in my life! I do not want to get into it. *sigh* Okay fine, they were so poorly made, after the first wash they were all wonky, the serged edges was all picked and pulled and ridiculous and they were not even washed with velcro. Seriously people. Well… not exactly wipes, but in the right direction and in a very happy manner I have discovered Bummas.

Bummas are small, soft, luxurious, eco-friendly baby-sized cloths made especially for drying baby bottoms, as well as blocking those surprise squirts. Bummas are a product supporting Doctors’ advice to prevent diaper rash. American Academy of Pediatrics recommends “drying the diaper area well….” before rediapering. Prevent and eliminate irritating diaper rash without the use of powders, talcs and ointments by simply drying your baby’s bum with a Bumma, then throw it in the wash. Wet one and use instead of a commercial wipe. After the wipe and before the dipe, use a soft kiss of cloth to dry bums off. Keep diaper rash at bay, the Bummas way. – Packs of Ten for $16.99 – 4 Colorful themed combinations in each pack. – 100% Cotton – Woven Velour Terry Cloth. – Handy 5″ x 7″ size. – Durable. Wash and use them again and again. – Won’t pill, shrink, or fade. (may need a little thread trimming after washing) – Made in California, USA

*Thanks to ChicExecs for my introduction to Bummas* We were sent a package of “the wild ones” in addition to being just plain cute, these things can do anything! We have used them as wipes alone, we have used them after the wet wipes to dry, they have been the extra pad once the changing pad became saturated mid diaper change and even for wiping a face from a spit-up. These things are limitless in their usage. They are also well made. They are made of 100% Cotton – Woven Velour Terry Cloth and uber soft on one side and grabby on the other that makes them even work for messy diapers. The edges are perfect after a month of use and I am sold on being a fan, and now I am not completely giving up on the idea of cloth wipes. *phew!*

Our process in the Creative Madness Mama household is Bum Bum Balm and Bummas on my baby’s bum. 😉

From the Bummas website:

Our Story

The creation of Bummas came about when we had our first baby boy. When your first arrives, you are given all kinds of advice:
“Use the wet commercial wipes, don’t use the wet commercial wipes, use gauze; use whatever is handy to block the pee; use another diaper to block the pee; don’t use that, use this; use powder to dry them off, don’t use powder-it contains talc and studies have linked talc to cancer.”
The one thing that was never mentioned was how to dry our little guy’s “stuff” off after the clean up. Our baby’s bum was just way too wet to put a diaper back on–and blowing down there until you’re blue in the face just wasn’t working. Thus Bummas were born. A soft absorbent, luxurious baby cloth to soak up all the wetness.

The Routine

Picture Grab a Bumma cloth before opening the diaper. Sneak “attacks” are frequent and will happen the second you open the diaper! Place the Bumma over the privates while tending to the other parts.
One Bumma will soak up an entire pee. Clean up baby with a regular wipe or wet a Bumma and clean up sensitive skin.Use another Bumma to thoroughly dry baby off.  Re-diaper. If the cover Bumma gets soaked rinse it off and throw it in the wash. The payoff- a dry bum, no diaper rash, and no surprise squirts. Save money on diapers, and save by not having to buy powder, and ointment.

Buy it: Introducing the Tropical Ones – Spring 2010. At $16.99 you have your choices in various color ways including The Tropical Ones, The Wild Ones, The Girls (now including purple), The Boys, and The Calm Ones. In my opinion I love them all!
