Becoming a big sister is an exciting time full of smiles, smells, hugs, and kisses. For ages 2-5.

Bringing a new baby into the home is a time of wonder and challenges. Author Fran Manushkin celebrates this special time with tales that emphasize that there is plenty of love for everyone, baby and all.

Also available by author Fran Manushkin: Big Brothers Are the Best.

This is an absolutely awesome new picture book and I am above ecstatic about it. At this time, it could not be more perfect for our family. Our AppleBlossom is for the first time a Big Sister to our brand new OrangeBlossom. The last few months since OrangeBlossom was born (August 2011) have been an exciting adjustment and this book is just the treat to share with AppleBlossom. She is excited. She is a helper. She is learning to “be careful” with the “fragile baby” who will one day be old enough to really play with.

My AppleBlossom is a little mama, and does change her baby doll, when I change my baby girl and she loves to read. So to be able to have a cute, wonderfully illustrated book like this to share with her to reinforce what she is learning about being a sister is really great.

I love the vibrant colors and the pictures and I really cannot tell you how excited I am about this book! Also great to know, is another version, just right for Big Brothers! They’re not left out, never fear. 😉

*Thanks to Capstone and Netgalley for lending me an electronic copy to read.*

Fran Manushkin is the author of many popular picture books, including How Mama Brought the Spring, Baby, Come Out!, and The Tushy Book. There is a real Katie Woo-she’s Fran’s great-niece-but she never gets in half the trouble of the Katie Woo in the books.
