Lesson One: Listen To Your Heart

With the mortgage due and funds scarce, Madge Morgan can’t afford distractions. Especially not from Judd Kirk, her sister Louisa’s meek tutor and—according to their mother’s plans—suitor. Madge’s focus is on her housekeeping job…little knowing Judd’s connection to her employer, or his real reason for coming to Golden Prairie.

At last, Judd has found the man who swindled his mother. Yet if he seeks revenge, he risks losing the one thing he wants even more: a woman with faith enough to rekindle his own. A woman with strong values and a gentle heart. A woman like Madge.

I really should have written this review two months ago, but it keeps getting away from me. This was my first experience reading a LIH through my Kindle Fire (thanks to NetGalley) and it was great. I am completely impressed with this book and have added the author to my lists to keep an eye on the future.

Judd is a great character that had me from page one. It’s amazing to me how even though this is a depression era type novel, it can truly relate to more present day things in a way. I read this one shortly after finishing Hearts in Flight which is the same time period, but completely different story. I love that I can come at this point in history with so many different backgrounds and it so applicable to read in times like today, when the economy is hard.

Linda Ford won me over with the whit of her characters and the illustration of the romance. The personalities swept off the page and I had trouble finding stopping points, because I just wanted to keep on reading.

Highly recommended. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next one on my list, The Cowboy Father.

Thanks to Harlequin for loaning me a copy for review through NetGalley.
