Beth and Alex survive a stage coach accident. Beth realizes the derelict in the stagecoach with her is a doctor and she forces him to help tend the injured. Alex finds he can care for the patients as long as Beth is right beside him... yelling at him.

Alex saves Beth's sister’s life, but he only has the courage to treat patients as long as Beth is there. The one way to keep her close it to marry her. Beth thinks he's a lunatic, but there's no denying his skill, and she's so empathic she can see the terrible price Alex pays to help hurting people. Besides, she owes the loco doctor for saving Sally.

She agrees to marry him. Her parents, Clay and Sophie protest the sudden marriage, but when Beth agrees to the marriage they grant their blessing.

And that's when the real trouble begins. A bounty hunter is on Alex's trail for desertion from the army. Alex has to live long enough to turn himself in, and then he may face a firing squad. And this all happens right when Alex is getting to be semi-sane and Beth is just starting to like him.

Every time I finish reading a new book from Mary Connealy I am astonished at how well I have been entertained. I giggled, I cried and I had a desire to throw the book across the room in response to the “bad guys”. Doctor in Petticoats is no different on that line of thinking. I was not disappointed and nor will any reader of Mary Connealy be unhappy with this novel.

This is the first book in the Sophie’s Daughter series, it comes after Lassoed in Texas series and the Montana Marriages Trilogy. While I was reading I knew that it was to be a continuation of the Lassoed in Texas series as the first book there, Petticoat Ranch is Sophie’s story. I was not prepared to find an interwoven continuation of the Montana Marriages Trilogy, I literally cried with happiness. 🙂 In part, this was a story about the oldest daughter Mandy, but it was also about the next daughter Beth. So many personalities on the page and full on entertainment.

Beth McCellen finds a groom and way to be a real Doctor in Alex Buchanan. Mandy follows her heart into a marriage that might be the biggest mistake she ever made. I love this book and start of a new series, I cannot wait for the second book in Wrangler in Petticoats and then especially the third in the series Sharpshooter in Petticoats to continue Mandy and her sisters’ stories.

I am not sure why I seem surprised. Reading a story from romantic comedian Christian Historical Fiction author Mary Connealy always sends me through a whirl of emotions. Wrangler in Petticoats is another one in a long line of entertaining reads with big messages. Through the pages, a reader will be taken into a romance that is full of blushes and shy grins, but also giggles and plain out chuckles. Yet you also get deep conversations on topics of discussion like marriage, family, and true love. That’s what this book is about.

Marriage, good ones, and bad ones. Marriage for love and marriage for convenience. The family that means nothing and family that means life as well as the family that just happens to exist. Then love. Love on the offsets of a lie, love that thrives in truth and love that is hidden because of propriety or situation. It is always a journey with Mary and of course I look forward to more.

Mandy McClellen Grey, has become the focus of a feud thanks to her husband, who made this mess and then died. Far from home, Mandy, the best little rifle woman in the west, has resigned herself to a lonely life under siege rather than call for help and endanger her family.

Tom Linscott is fed up with waiting for Mandy who should have had the sense to come to him as soon as she finished burying her worthless husband. In fact he'd've come fast enough to dig the hole if she'd've sent for him. He goes to round up his little woman and buys into a heap of trouble from a whole clan of outlaws.

Between Mandy's deadly skill with her rifle, her determination to not bring trouble down on someone she loves, and an ever growing crowd of varmints who want to bury everyone named Grey—and anyone who sides with them, Tom may not survive getting himself hitched.

Sharpshooter in Petticoats is the third novel in Sophie’s Daughters Series, or rather the ninth novel if you include Lassoed in Texas and Montana Marriages in that series as well. The best part is that the fun keeps coming on characters that I love with the writing of one of my absolute favorite authors Mary Connealy. The best part, even though it is a continuation of great characters, as a reader you really could start anywhere and enjoy any and all of the books as a stand alone.

Every time I read Mary Connealy I want to go grab my husband, forcefully kiss him and walk away with a self-satisfied grin.
