The Missing Link to Frazzled Home Keepers Everywhere

By Renee Metzler

Have you ever felt like you were missing an essential link to a tidy home?  It may have gone something like this.  Your child was invited to a birthday party.  You attend the party at the child’s home.  You notice the neat cubicles in the foyer that contain shoes, scarves and mittens.  You also notice the clean floor, the lack of clutter, and you think, “What am I missing?”

That’s how I felt, when I first became a full-time home manager.  I noticed that while I was constantly reacting to messes, never getting “caught-up,” others seemed to effortlessly maintain a tidy house.  This began my research, my quest, to find secrets to smart home management.  Although there are many secrets to smart home management, the most essential one, the missing link, is that of a Smart Daily Routine.  Each morning, you get up and get going.  You can choose to leave a trail of mess, clothes and trash, or you can be pro-active and smart and leave behind a trail of order.  If you want to begin moving from chaos to order in your home, start implementing a smart daily routine. It really is the frazzled home keeper’s missing link.   In my book, “Total Home Makeover,” (http://ambassador-international.com/books/total-home-makeover)  I describe the smart daily routine.

These simple routines are like a road map to blissful home order.  There are certain tasks that must be done every day to keep your home running smoothly.  When you put these tasks into a smart daily routine, you can avoid the frustrations of reactive home management, and you will enjoy the environment of an orderly home” (Total Home Makeover, page 31-32).

Do you want blissful home order?  Absolutely.  Who wouldn’t?  Here’s a Simple Morning Routine you can begin to follow today.

  1. Make your bed.
  2. Get gorgeous and leave bathroom clean.
  3. Attack laundry.
  4. Empty dishwasher, make breakfast and clean-up.
  5. Review To Do list.
  6. Clear a Hot Spot.
  7. Out the door.

  2. We still bounce from clean to chaos but are working on it . . . Can’t wait until I don’t have to remind everyone to do their chores . . . Reading Renee’s book sounds like a great step toward seeing our situation objectively.
