In this newest Berenstain Bear Living Lights I Can Read, Scoutmaster Papa Bear says he knows absolutely everything there is to know about caves. So why doesn’t he know the way out? Level One early readers follow the Bear Scouts as they explore Spooky Cave trying to earn their Cave Adventure Merit Badges and are reminded along the way that God is always by our side.

Based on the previously published The Berenstain Bears Lost in a Cave.

We love the Berenstain Bears especially the Living Lights ones for the I Can Read Level 1 early readers and while I love them weaving in a Christian message I’m a little off on this one. Faith is important and will “get you through” but I think it is a little odd in this one where it seems like they just ignored safety issues and said basically God has got our back so it’s okay to do dangerous things without a worry.

Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bear books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005, Jan and Mike continue to create the delightful Bear adventures from their family home in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.
