Last night we had the privilege as a family to watch Pirate’s Code. As the movie started I got the idea that perhaps this was a sequel as there were several statements and hints to this being a follow up. It took me a while to discover that indeed there was another movie called The Adventures of Mickey Matson and the Copperhead Treasure (2012) while my DVD is Mickey Matson and the Pirate’s Code (2015). There also appears to be a third, yet unnamed movie planned according to http://www.mickeymatson.com/.
In this follow up to Mickey Matson and the Copperhead Treasure, Mickey Matson is at it again; this time pitted against the evil Admiral Ironsides and his gang of pirates who are intent on destroying civilization. They’re new invetnion, the Tesla Coil, is a weapon of mass destruction that will send an electromagnetic pulse throughout the world, destroying every electronic device in existence. With the help of a secret organization, Mickey and his best friend Sully embark on a mission to stop the pirates from taking over a submarine and stealing the last part needed to complete their devastating weapon. If Admiral Ironsides succeeds in his plan, civilization will be sent back to the Stone Age. It’s a race against time, and the fate of the world hangs in the balance.
I was amused by a cast of adult actors from childhood movies and TV shows I grew up watching. The whole movie was pretty amusing. It is a family friendly film definitely directed toward children and the childhood memories of adults. There was a “Great Scott!” And we are nearly certain we heard 121 gigawatts too…
The Enginerd didn’t watch the movie beginning to end because he had to go do something, but later I found myself recounting scenes that he missed and we were both giggling a bit. Being a bit a science nerd, things that happened and were used were fun to experience in the movie. It was definitely cheesy, but in a good way. I think overall, we all enjoyed it.
