The Civil War, as seen through the eyes of young Vincent Wingfield, a spirited teenager from the South and heir to a southern slave plantation, who staunchly supports the rights of slaves but, because of fidelity to the state of Virginia, joins Lee's cavalry and fights for the Confederacy.

If you are ready to immerse your students in a Civil War era to listen to a story based on the novel by G.A. Henty feature two teenage boy characters grab a hold of this audio drama. Heirloom Audio Productions  ~  (http://www.WithLeeinVirginia.com/) is releasing the third dramatization based on a novel by George Alfred Henty, known as The Extraordinary Adventures of G.A. Henty. This dramatization comes in a two-CD set providing two hours of educational entertainment for ages six and up to capture the imagination.

The vendor sent a physical copy of: With Lee in Virginia to members of our Crew. This is a physical CD set. Members also received a bunch of extras like a Study Guide, a soundtrack. The study guide and soundtrack is a digital download.

Selections from The Extraordinary Adventures of G.A. Henty have previous been chosen for the TOS Review Crew Blue Ribbon Award as a Favorite. Using stories with a strong focus on Christian themes with a focus on character (and especially the concept of slavery) this audio theater experience allows listeners to adventure with two boys in a coming of age story.

With Lee in Virginia is a durable two-CD set with two and one-half hours of “non-stop adventure” for ages six-adult.

Stories of virtue and valor, daring and determination, character and courage. From history’s master of storytelling…

Audio dramatization written by Robert Liparulo and a soundtrack written by Emmy-winning composer John Campbell (of Narnia). And acted out by notible characters such as Jim Weiss, Sean Astin, Kirk Cameron, and Chris Anthony. SO many notables that I know and have enjoyed their talents in the past so it is a delight to add such a disc to our possibles for naptime, bedtime, random listening time, and car time.

Up to this point my daughters have not yet fully grasped the wonders of audio theatre, but it is definitely something left over from my youth that I solidly enjoyed! Children growing up in today’s world, well really as any other, but in some ways especially now with the more readily available digital entertainment need access to good role models and what better way to do that than to introduce talented stories brought to life through audio drama from the imagination of G.A. Henty.

For us we found all sorts of opportunity to listen the two disc CD set. I think I enjoyed it the most, but my girls did listen. This time around I was more into getting them to appreciate listening to a story on CD than to really discuss, but if my children were older I think the Study Guide would be a fabulous resource. Vocabulary, background and more give you a real jumping point of which to enhance your studies.
