The Old Schoolhouse ~ (http://www.theoldschoolhouse.com/shop/) has released the newest printed version of the Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 in perfect timing to start organizing my ideas for the new school year.
Hey Mama! How are you? As a homeschooling mama, you know we all need that kinship from time to time, and how about a planner that gets it? Years ago, I discovered the planners from The Old Schoolhouse that I have printed and bound year after year. A few years ago, they introduced my favorite planner, the Hey Mama! planner. This planner gets me. (All I need is a blogger version. *smk*)
Year after year I keep trying to use digital planner, maybe the print weekly ones, but so many times it is my preference to reach for this well done physical planner. The 2016-2017 Hey Mama! Schoolhouse Planer is a physical 8×11 spiral bound planner. The planner is dated from July 2016 to June 2017.

I adored the 2014-2015 version! I found myself extremely eager to use the 2016-2017 version this year. I loved the primary schoolhouse colors of the former version with a bright red schoolhouse and red interior. This year the tone is gold and in my opinion, a good classic sepia tone throughout. According to my SisterL, it apparently matches the new iPhone for this year as well which I suppose may excite some people enthusiastically. *wink*
At a glance to the table of contents, everything good from the older version is included in the current version except for the overall History Timeline. In the 2016-2017 version, you still have quick access to the same writing prompts, story starters, Thirteen Colonies details, Timeline of Inventions, U.S. Presidents and their Wives, Branches of the U.S. Government, U.S. States and Capitals, and more.
Inside this planner, there are full page calendars for the next three years. Then there is a set of two-page spread of calendars from July 2016 to June 2017. There is a blank lined page per month for mama notes to write out as well as a “Hey Mama” letter full of inspiration. There is plenty of space for notes on the sidebar of the two-page spread of the monthly calendars as well. The monthly calendars take you all the way to page 55. On page 56, the start of weekly agendas begins. Blank pages with charts to fill in the format that fits you the best. Whether it is weekdays across the top, or subjects or student names there are so many different ways these forms can be used and used well. I find that personally I like to alternate ways that I use them depending on which students I’m working with and how much together as a family work we are doing as well. Every so often interspersed here are pages with a “Hey Mama” note and a fact on one of the homestead materials found on the front cover. This is new and unique to the 2016-2017 planner!
On page 146, the Goals pages begin. There is a set of Monthly Goals (5), Semester Goals (5), Yearly Goals (5), Attendance Chart (5), Books Read This Year (4), Curriculum Planning Sheet (5), Homeschooling Contact List, and then the informational charts and lists I mentioned earlier.
