Baby sick again…

I’ve been out of town and on the phone with the peds office but opted to go beyond a phone call and go in to see the pediatrician. Also because of the crazy amount of bruises she’s been sporting lately. We’re thinking it is a virus still… and now has caused a low platelet count. We are going to redo the blood test for platelet count next week again. The first time age was sick was May 1st. May 10th was when we went to … Continue reading

In 2003 Kim was arrested in China for harboring and helping refugees escape through an underground railroad. He would serve four years in prison camps where his faith flourished despite the harsh environment. Immersing himself in Scripture and prayer, he secretly lead fellow inmates and their guard to Christ at great personal risk. Today Kim’s refugee mission continues and he’s known as a powerful voice for human rights, especially North Korean women and children being trafficked for profit. The Fearless Passage of Steven Kim serves as an inspiring reminder of what God can accomplish through one willing and obedient heart.

Katie’s Choice by Amy Lillard {Preview}

Katie Rose Fisher loved Samuel Beachy with an intensity that shook their Amish district. No one doubted they would one day marry, until Samuel turned his back on the church and joined the world of the English. Alone now in Clover Ridge, Katie Rose dedicates her life to God and the school children she teaches each day. Although she secretly longs for more, Katie knows God’s hand is at work, and she is happy. Their simple way of life is intriguing, but not half as much as the young teacher. Katie Rose is flattered over the attention she receives from Zane, but she has resolved to never marry. Even if she were to entertain the idea, it surely couldn’t be with an outsider like Zane. Never one prone to the restraints of organized religion, Zane finds a comfort in the rituals and blessings in the day to day righteous living of this small Amish community. He finds himself, God, and love with Katie Rose. But as Zane draws closer to Katie Rose, Samuel comes back to repent his ways and return to his place at her side. When Love Calls (The Gregory Sisters) by Lorna Seilstad

16112942

Hannah Gregory is good at many things, but that list doesn’t include following rules. So when she is forced to apply for a job as a telephone switchboard operator to support her two sisters, she knows it won’t be easy. “Hello Girls” must conduct themselves according to strict-and often bewildering-rules. No talking to the other girls. No chatting with callers. No blowing your nose without first raising your hand. And absolutely no consorting with gentlemen while in training.

Meanwhile, young lawyer Lincoln Cole finds himself in the unfortunate position of having to enforce the bank’s eviction of the three Gregory girls from their parents’ home. He tries to soften the blow by supporting them in small ways as they settle into another home. But fiery Hannah refuses his overtures and insists on paying back every cent of his charity.

When one of Hannah’s friends finds himself on the wrong side of a jail cell, Hannah is forced to look to Lincoln for help. Will it be her chance to return to her dreams of studying law? And could she be falling in love? Continue reading

Home again, home again…

avatar

Okay, so I’m home now and back to my computer. We had to jump and go to Georgia as my father-in-law passed away after a rough battle with cancer. We’re all very sad and still a bit surprised. In an update to AppleBlossom and OrangeBlossom’s health, both were sick off and on for several more days and then after a 3 AM Emergency Room visit for AppleBlossom followed by a two-day stint for myself to be violently ill… we’re going with stomach virus. However with the root canals and sinus infections having me on and off antibiotics in the last two years as well as the fact that I do not have a gall bladder I was set up for failure and was about 10x worse than the girls. (But thank God! they were not that sick!) AppleBlossom was fixed in about five minutes after some Zofran, so we’re all on the mend.

However, I’m about 3,000 emails in debt. So if you need me and I haven’t responded. Please consider that I haven’t seen your message and feel free to poke me again. :)

Memoria Press Junior Kindergarten {Review – Part VII – Crafts}

CMM-JrKindergarten-Review-Button-FINAl

The Book of Crafts for Jr. K is brand new, it was not available when we first started. In the lesson plans I was queued with something like “Make a gingerbread craft” or “Madeline Craft”, but there was nothing more than that. Previously what I did was searched pinterest for great ideas and went from there. However, now with The Book of Crafts, no searching on my part is necessary as they are all laid out for me. I received a portion of this product free for the purpose of reviewing it. See full disclosure at close of post or … Continue reading
