Infantino Tummy Triangle

DSCF4084

When it came to tummy time for AppleBlossom what I remember most was immediate spit up and crying of discomfort. She loved being on her tummy on our chests, but when it came to using the “toys” we had specifically for tummy time she and I were not a fan.

So this next time around with OrangeBlossom I was not sure what we would do. We still have that ole ladybug, but I’m not crazy about pulling it out. Infantino fixed my query! Continue reading

Had a Baby!!

1AJC

Two weeks old as of Yesterday! (Click any photo to enlarge) So it’s official. We have two gorgeous daughters! And from the looks of the early baby photos these gals might just seem to favor each other a little bit. I’m curious if it’s true that people will ask us later if we have twins (with only 24 months separating them). It will be interesting… Althea Jane (OrangeBlossom to you all folk) was born 1:26 pm CST at 7 lbs 2 oz and 19″ in length or height depending on who you ask. That’s to Charlotte Elspeth’s (AppleBlossom) 8 lbs … Continue reading

I’m crazy, but leave me alone! I’m Nesting!!

DSCF3913

People have asked if I have… started cleaning the house like crazy? Nope. Folding and refolding baby clothes? Nope. Repainted or made a million baby items? Nope and nope. But I will admit that I have reorganized, sorted and completely labeled all the cloth diapers more than ten or even fifteen times. What’s wrong with that huh? It needs to be done! When people like Grandmama or SisterB come and need to change a diaper (that’s why they’ll be here right???) they need to know what’s what right? It’s necessary. So I’ve got my labels from Accessories to Medium gDiapers, … Continue reading

How did your Toddler react to the New Baby?

birthday girl

If you had a toddler, when your new baby was added to the family, how did that toddler react? I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately as we’re getting closer and closer to due day. (Yes technically the due date is August 27th, but AppleBlossom was three weeks early, so I’m prepared for anything — plus the beginning signs are happening. — As it was put in God Gave Us You, God gives mama’s special signs to know…) In the last few months we’ve been talking about “baby belly” and new baby, and baby toys, and baby clothes and … Continue reading

Making Babbies…

MJ sleeping

When I was a child I had a “lamb babbie”. It was a two piece flannel blanket that my aunt made me. I literally loved it to pieces. I was about nine or so, when a cleaning lady at my cousin’s house disposed of it while we were gone for the day. Needless to say I was devastated. But in her defense, I guess I should admit that it was in shreds. So much so that I actually kept it in a lingerie mesh wash bag so as to not lose anymore pieces. *ahem* My sister came up with something … Continue reading

Life a little behind…

So I’m a little behind here and there. Hopefully you’ll all forgive me. My wonderful Enginerd bought me a battery backup, so hopefully once he gets it hooked up I will not have to worry about the ridiculous power surges here killing my computer. Now all I need is a way to back up the computer, since when I moved to an iMac over my Powerbook my external hard drive is not big enough. *sigh* AppleBlossom seems to be doing better, but there was a hint of fever again last night. I’m just not sure what to think with all … Continue reading

Potty Training –> The Potty

A friend of mine mentioned getting a potty soon for her son to think about potty training and I was going to email her back about our different potty experiences, but then I realized that I really needed to blog about it. So.. here goes. We started with a curiosity of Elimination Communication. It didn’t end up being what we did, but it was great to have all the information, and I still do use queues and give opportunities and such. So early on, I bought a Baby B’jorn Little Potty. It was amazing how people were so negative in … Continue reading

Bring Back Beatrice! by Jennifer Griffin

In a world where too many babies are named Ashley and Jayden and too many baby name books are saccharine pink and blue, here comes something singular: a book that brings meaning, taste, character, a little bit of attitude, and a refreshing lack of trendiness to the art of naming a baby. Bring Back Beatrice! is a clarion call for parents who know they are naming not just a cuddly newborn, but a human being— a person who will be proud to carry a name like Iris, meaning rainbow (after the Greek messenger goddess who connected the heavens to the earth); Bennett, the medieval form of the name Benedict, meaning “blessing;” Henry, good enough for eight English kings—after all, it means “home ruler;” Diana, the Roman goddess of hunting, the allegorical antecedent of the virgin Queen Elizabeth, and alterego of Wonder Woman; or Beatrice, an old-fashioned beauty with roots in both Dante and Shakespeare. Health all around

First off, AppleBlossom is fine. Getting better I would say. Starting with a good bit of congestion and then some last Friday moving on to a cough by Sunday including a weekend pediatrician clinic visit. Then moving into a runny nose, and a horrible cough and coming off into croup and miserable pain. My poor baby. So with a couple pediatrician visits, 3:00 AM freaked out calls to the nurse debating a trip to the ER an antibiotic, steroid anti-inflammatory, cough elixir, cough suppressant, and pain medicine later… we’re doing a bit better. But I will tell you that impetigo, croup and an upper respiratory infection are not fun for mama or baby.

Then there is the Enginerd. He has a horrible upper respiratory infection and not stop cough as well. As for myself. I’m not sick, just pregnant!
