Chris Tomlin Adore: Christmas Songs of Worship CD {Review}

The last couple of weeks I have been preparing myself for Christmas with my new favorite holiday CD and that is Chris Tomlin Adore, it’s a Christmas Songs of Worship CD. My review is posting much later that I had anticipated as life got in the way, but I absolutely couldn’t let this season go by without telling you how much I really have been and am still enjoying this CD. It’s funny, a day or two after I started listening, I noticed a song on the local Christian radio station was very great to sing along with and I shazam-ed it with my phone to discover that it was actually a song on the Adore CD! I was amused and delighted. I had been considering buying the individually mp3 I enjoyed it so much. Well, now after listening to the CD several times I have discovered that I truly. . .

We’ve finally experienced the Homeschool Classic. Peter and the Wolf: Maestro Classics {Review}

Peter and the Wolf Review

In the summer of 2014 I discovered Maestro Classics ~ (http://www.MaestroClassicsDirect.com) and I have found myself to be enthusiastic about their CDs ever since. Most recently, I have been blessed to get my educational teaching hands on Peter and the Wolf as a physical CD with a study guide inside and access to a downloadable curriculum guide. The running Total Playing Time 68:16. Spending time with my children listening to Maestro Classics’ Peter and the Wolf has been educational and fun. We’ve recently taken up violin lessons again which are an hour drive away and now we’re preparing our mind for violin by listening to our various options of titles from the Stories in Music collection. Casey at the Bat, Mike Mulligan and More, and the Merry Pranks of Master Till as well as Peter and the Wolf now have given us hours to delve into the classical world learning more about the composers, their culture, and the instruments. . .

Strauss tells a story in music. Merry Pranks of Master Till: Maestro Classics {Review}

The medieval tales about a boy named Till are set to Richard Strauss’s classic tone poem, Till Eulenspiegel. Till plays tricks on people to show them that they may not be as high and mighty as they think! Twisting the words of professors and bakers, tailors and priests, Till travels the countryside. In the end, however, he discovers that the world has little patience for his antics.

Adventures in Odyssey Adventure Club – join today for just $5!

Are your kids in need of a safe and fun environment where they can explore, create and imagine, all while developing their faith and learning biblical truth? Enter the Odyssey Adventure Club (AOC)! When I was a child the music on the radio was not something that I desired to listen to (I’m still not into 80s/early 90s music…), so I ended up listening to Oldies and radio theatre. My favorite program was undeniably Adventures in Odyssey. I listened live on the radio and could quote the mailing address by heart and even wrote a letter to Connie back in the day… I still have set of cassette tapes that I’m really looking forward to sharing with my daughters (if only I could find a tape deck, eventually!). I also have a few CD sets that we’ve listened to from time to time. I’m really hoping as they get a little. . .

Adding Classical Music to your School: Maestro Classics Review

Earlier this week, I mentioned that my first introduction to a great art program was at a homeschool convention. Something else that I discovered at that convention was the concept of educational music CDs from Maestro Classics, which I’m glad to review and share with you today. Through a few choices, I opted to order Casey at the Bat (recommended for all ages) as well as Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel (recommended for ages 4 & up). I came by these choices wanted to enhance our own homeschool studies planned.

Memoria Press Junior Kindergarten {Review – Part VI – Music}

CMM JrK Review

Now we’re in my category that I can boast on a bit as I spent practically a whole day organizing myself on this one to make the most of it. While I know that people would love to have a CD of all the songs chosen for the year in the curriculum plans for Jr. K because of copyright issues that is a hard task to accomplish. However, with the availability of streaming music online, especially through a new software I’m just now getting to know called Spotify it is possible to follow someone’s playlist. I practically spent all day doing it for myself and figured I might share in case it would help anyone. I have a pinterest board and a Spotify play list for all the Junior Kindergarten Music and Poetry. All the songs used in the Lesson Plans for Memoria Press Junior Kindergarten in one place! (Some. . .

The Friendly Beasts: An Old English Christmas Carol

A classic Christmas story that shares the real meaning of the holiday, but told from an unexpected perspective. Included are the music, lyrics, and a CD with two songs performed by award-winning artist Rebecca St. James (The Friendly Beasts & Shine Your Glory Down).

Anna Vojtech’s The Friendly Beasts takes a unique approach to the birth of Christ, combining traditional Christmas song lyrics, eye-catching illustrations, and a focus on the animals that joined Joseph, Mary, and Jesus in the stable on that first Christmas night. As the song lyrics unfold, each animal-a cow, camel, dove, donkey, and sheep-explains what gift they brought to the baby. The holiday message, lyrical themes, and beautiful images created by veteran illustrator Vojtech will keep readers coming back to the book again and again. As an added bonus, the book contains a CD with two songs performed by award-winning artist Rebecca St. James (The Friendly Beasts & Shine Your Glory Down), spoken narration, and some of Rebecca’s favorite Christmas memories. Christ-centered, creative, and memorable for children and adults alike, The Friendly Beasts brings new life to a treasured story. This book is the perfect holiday gift, an attention-grabbing classroom aid, or simply a book to read to children before bedtime, whether at Christmas or any time of the year.

Wee Sing Bible Songs

When I started researching things that I wanted to implement into curriculum and start purchasing since I’d use them for years, one thing that kept coming up was Wee Sing. First it was mentioned, I think, in The Well-Trained Mind by Susan Wise Bauer and Jessie Wise. Then again I saw it often in the references and catalogs from Veritas Press. Then again in the Memoria Press forums and again and again. Then when I started into the Animal Play Curriculum it was Wee Sing Animals Animals Animals. I knew I would have to get my hands on these.
