LaborLooks Maternity Gowns

It was about two years before AppleBlossom was born that I started blogging and I was a quilt blogger first, and then a book blogger. While in the two years since she was born I have come across some of my favorite products, by far my most favorite maternity product was something that I got to use during OrangeBlossom’s birth … Continue reading

Santa Poo Pourri natural air freshener and spray deodorizer www.poopourri.net A little Christmas Holly, a dash of Evergreen, and a hint of Citrus greet you in the restroom after taking a quick peek at the tree. Being his polite jolly self, he always uses Santa Poo, the essential oil based Before-You-Go bathroom spray from Poo Pourri. Just spray the bowl before sitting on … Continue reading

Pee Wee Pilates: Pilates for the Postpartum Mother & Her Baby

Though she yearns for her pre-pregnancy figure, a new mother has little time to devote to exercise; attending to the needs of a newborn is a full-time job. A revolutionary postnatal fitness program, Pee Wee Pilates gives new mothers what no other fitness program or book has to date: a quick and proven method they can do at home to whip their postpartum body gently back into shape and enrich their babies at the same time.

Pilates targets the areas most affected by pregnancy (abdomen, hips, lower back, and buttocks), so new moms will get results fast without having to leave homes or carve out huge chunks of time. Simultaneously, because the baby is incorporated into the Pilates movements, women get to enjoy a loving and fun interaction with their babies. Unlike other mother/baby fitness programs, however, baby is far more than just a prop; the exercises in Pee Wee Pilates are designed specifically to help foster a little one’s development and attachment to mother. Developed by one of New York City’s leading Pilates teachers, Pee Wee Pilates promises to be the hot new “baby and me” exercise program for new mothers everywhere. Continue reading

Food, Inc.

Food, Inc. 2008 PG 94 minutes Drawing on Eric Schlosser’s Fast Food Nation and Michael Pollan’s The Omnivore’s Dilemma, director Robert Kenner’s Oscar-nominated documentary explores the food industry’s detrimental effects on our health and environment. Kenner spotlights the men and women who are working to reform an industry rife with monopolies, questionable interpretations of laws and subsidies, political ties and rising rates of E. coli outbreaks. This morning I was clicking through my Instant View on Netflix as saw a documentary called Food, Inc. Since I was working on some posts I decided to let it play in the background. … Continue reading

Walk

Screen shot 2010-07-04 at 4.15.23 PM

We just got back from going on a walk, we being our little family, Enginerd, AppleBlossom and myself. It’s Labor Day and so he’s home from work. This summer his group has been experimenting with different hours and arrangements and due to that several Mondays I have had him at home with us and I love every minute of that. (AppleBlossom does too, because she adores her daddy). That’s ending soon, but part of me wishes they would continue it. Supposedly there is a change he might be able to rearrange the time and even though he’ll work Monday through … Continue reading

Dr. Hess Udder Oinment

As a hand quilter and as person who cross stitches (in my spare time…) my fingers get pricked quite a bit and it just a part of the trade. When it has been a while, and I go back to it, there is always a day or two of sore finger tips until I can get a bit of a callus to protect it. Yet all the time, my saving grace for pain has been udder cream. I first discovered it in the check out line at a craft shop and now I cannot hardly live without it. Just rubbing … Continue reading

GladRags – Menstrual Monday

It seems so long ago that I introduced you to Lunapads and the idea of Mama Cloth. Another option and my favorite brand of mama cloth is GladRags. I have been waiting to tell you about GladRags, partially thinking that I would be able to give an honest opinion of using them for a cycle or two. Yet… a blessing of pregnancy and then breastfeeding I’m still waiting on that next menses to come around. (Oh trust me, no hurry here! I am quite happy to be period free.) *Thanks to Tracy of GladRags I was blessed to receive three … Continue reading
