Wednesday September 16 Reading Meme Brevity is the goal of today! Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack? Nope, no snack just beverages. Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you? Depends on book, mostly not. How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open? Bookmark or on it’s belly. Fiction, Non-fiction, or both? More fiction than no-fiction preferably. Hard copy or audiobooks? Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point? Prefer chapters, learning to adjust. If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away? No, write down for later. What are you currently reading? What is the last book you bought?. . .
This is a fabulous book! I could easily see this sitting out on a coffee table for years to come or a guest room bedside table for enjoyment. Also, this book is a perfect gift idea for my father. Written by John H. Parker and filled to the brim of photography by Paul Seawright, this square-shaped book is a perfect historical lesson on Christianity’s most famous British Hymns and their authors lives. Each chapter gives an oral history of the hymnist life and a photographic journey of those locations in modern day.
The marriage of Marc Antony and Cleopatra is one of the greatest love stories of all time, a tale of unbridled passion with earth-shaking political consequences. Feared and hunted by the powers in Rome, the lovers choose to die by their own hands as the triumphant armies of Antony’s revengeful rival, Octavian, sweep into Egypt. Their three orphaned children are taken in chains to Rome; only two– the ten-year-old twins Selene and Alexander–survive the journey. Delivered to the household of Octavian’s sister, the siblings cling to each other and to the hope that they will return one day to their rightful place on the throne of Egypt. As they come of age, they are buffeted by the personal ambitions of Octavian’s family and court, by the ever-present threat of slave rebellion, and by the longings and desires deep within their own hearts. The fateful tale of Selene and Alexander is. . .

Ambitious, charismatic, and beautiful, Nefertiti is destined to marry Amunhotep, an unstable young pharaoh. It is hoped by all that her strong personality will temper the young Amunhotep’s heretical desire to forsake Egypt’s ancient gods, overthrow the priests of Amun, and introduce a new sun god for all to worship. From the moment of her arrival in Thebes, Nefertiti is beloved by the people. Her charisma is matched only by her husband’s perceived generosity: Amunhotep showers his subjects with lofty promises. The love of the commoners will not be enough, however, if the royal couple is not able to conceive an heir, and as Nefertiti turns. . .
Beyond This Moment by Tamera Alexander When Dr. Molly Whitcomb, Professor of Romance Languages, steps off the train in Colorado Territory, she makes a choice–one that goes against everything she stands for. Yet it’s the only choice that offers her a chance to regain a fraction of all she’s lost. Sheriff James McPherson’s instincts about people rarely miss the mark. He knows Professor Whitcomb is hiding something. He just doesn’t know what. When James learns Molly’s secret, his own reputation is undermined. But when Molly Whitcomb’s reinvented life begins to unravel, it threatens his job, the stability of Timber Ridge, and what he always knew to be true about himself. My review rating: 5 of 5 stars Reading the back cover blurb for the book a reader knows that the main character Molly Whitcomb has a secret that is reputation-ruin worthy. After reading the first chapter a reader knows. . .

The song devotions were my favorite, so much that I went and bought the individual book The One Year Great Songs of Faith where many of the songs came from. But also the deeper looks on women of the Bible and poetry and other things through out made this Devotional Bible a jewel. I have the Fabric/leather version, and it feels so good in hand. I really recommend this for any female you know seeking out a good devotional Bible. I’m very satisfied with this purchase. View all my reviews.
Experience daily the timeless truths contained in the many celebrated songs of the Christian faith. Each day’s devotional includes the text of a classic hymn or song, the inside story about the author or origin of the song, and a related Scripture passage. Be refreshed and strengthened each day by the mighty words that have uplifted God’s people through the ages.
The Berenstain Bears Go to Sunday School by Michael Berenstain My review rating: 5 of 5 starsWhat a wonderful this story is and so true to many a family life. The Berenstain Bears have always been wonderful, but the Go to Sunday School story is a great one to share and explain to family how great going to church and Sunday School can be, even for a bear. 🙂 I highly recommend this story for families, especially those with kids ages 4-7. This and all the other Berenstain Bear books, especially the newest ones coming from Mike Berenstain, son to the creators Jan and Stan. How busy is your life? Can you find time for church and Sunday School as a family? View all my reviews.
The Berenstain Bears and the Golden Rule by Michael Berenstain My review rating: 5 of 5 starsIt’s been years since I have read any of the adventures with the Berenstain Bears, but it was definitely a strong part of my earliest childhood that I have spare memories of. The Berenstain Bears and the Golden Rule is a winner in my opinion and a shelf keeper for every family. Sister Bear gets to learn more about that phrase she knows so well, but has never really considered. This classic is a wonderful learning tool for any child and I strongly recommend it. On the inside of the back cover is a reader’s guide, which I do not remember as a child, but has great questions to further the learning and understanding of a reader. What a wonderful experience spending time with the Berenstain Bears is, I cannot wait for more! View. . .
*This post has been updated with my new format as of January 27, 2016 with the Ultimate Book Blogger Plugin.* Oh, what a novel! I wish it had not come to an end. Every time I picked up the book to settle in for a read, I was swept into the world of Egypt with Pharaoh’s and Warrior Queen’s. I was impressed by Nefertiti, Michelle Moran’s debut, but The Heretic Queen surpasses my admiration by far. Our story is told from a first person perspective straight from the mouth of Nefertari, beloved of Ramesses, and Warrior Queen of Egypt. From a child to a woman, as a reader you get to hold onto her tale. I giggled with her, and I became enraged at her enemies. I felt empathy for her situations and I praised her for her morality and decisions for love instead of revenge. Nefertari is one for. . .

Coming October 1st!!!!! When Sister Bear receives a locket for her birthday with the Golden Rule inscribed on it, she wonders what the verse means. And although Mama Bear explains it, it isn’t until she befriends a lonely newcomer at school that she understands what the rule looks like in action.
