Lone Star Brides 3 in 1 available now!

Now, if you know me, you know I love my books. But I have to tell you that I absolutely adore omnibus editions! Getting an entire trilogy under one cover excites me to no end! I cannot explain it, but it is pure delight! Now you can get the entire Lone Star Brides trilogy in one book by Tracie Peterson. I think they did a great job of combining the covers.

Fairy Tale Romance Collection by Melanie Dickerson {Review}

Fairy Tale Romance Collection Review

Today I have two specific reviews for you and more to come. I love omnibus books, if you haven’t heard me say it before I’ll say it now! I love collections and now Melanie Dickerson has a good handful of books (all stand alone worthy, never fear) of her fairy tale romances. Now you can buy them as one ebook for a bargain! In this collection, you can read a set of tales from Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Cinderella, and the Frog and the Princess. And soon, Melanie also has stories for Rapunzel, the Princess and the Pea, as well as a Robin Hood meets Swan Lake mistress.   My first and only qualm is that this book is listed as young adult. I don’t agree with that, it’s not a teen novel. It is shorter than my normal read, but it is definitely one for. . .

Secrets of a Charmed Life by Susan Meissner {Review}

Secrets of a Charmed Life Review

You may already know that my favorite genre is Christian Historical Fiction but did you know that my truly favorite stories to read are their own little sub-genre of a Christian Historical Fiction/Contemporary mix? Like that of Susan Meissner and Elizabeth Musser. Nothing grabs me in more than stories that bring you in and out of the historical context to a modern day to truly bring the characters alive and off the page. The Shape of Mercy and The Girl in the Glass are two such novels that I have read and enjoyed in recent years from Susan Meissner. Thus when I discovered that the New American Library from Penguin Random House was now publishing some new stories for her I had to look them up. Lately, I have been on an Edwardian kick and reading many early 20th century setting novels. When I was browsing through my to-reads list I noticed a few titles from. . .

When Calls the Heart by Janette Oke {Review}

When Calls the Heart

This is my first experience with Janette Oke, which had a lot riding on it because of the recommendations from my sister-in-law as well as the making of the movies, etc. I was pleased. It was a quick and enjoyable read. At first I did not like how it was written as a Dear so-and-so letter perspective, but I think that it works well, as if it is Elizabeth telling you the story, as to children or a friend. Love, patience, and waiting for God’s will not your own are very valuable lessons learned here, as well as to get out of your comfort zone to see what he has in store for you. I look forward to the rest of the series and then others.

After a Fashion (A Class of Their Own) by Jen Turano {Review}

The first in the new ‘A Class of Their Own’ series If you read my post about reasons to read an e-novella then you know how I first discovered Jen Turano was through a freebie that I stumbled upon and I knew immediately that I had found a new favorite author. Since then I have been delighted with all the stories in the Ladies of Distinction series and now I’m finding myself to have the same opinion of the A Class of Their Own series. Through a fluke I actually was able to read In Good Company (my review), the second in the Class of Their Own series before I finished After a Fashion and while they can easily stand on their own as independent reads, they do build the story with friend (and friendly!) characters. In November 2012, I was given the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance Best Tour Review. . .

Horizons Spelling & Vocabulary 2nd Grade {Review}

Our 2015-2016 year is the first year where we really are adding in the subject Spelling. We have been blessed with the opportunity to review Horizons 2nd Grade Spelling & Vocabulary Set and what a blessing it has turned out to be! Horizons is one of several imprints from Alpha Omega Publications  ~  (http://aophomeschooling.com/TOS) and one I’ve been drooling over since I discovered them at an expo conference a few years ago. I am so delighted to get this curriculum in hand and it has been an incredible few weeks as we have delved deeper and really started a study on Spelling & Vocabulary for my AppleBlossom. Alpha Omega had it’s start in creating curriculum for private Christian schools, but they have gone into (for nearly 30 years now!) the homeschool world and are definitely one of top company names that you will hear as a recommendation when you’re seeking. . .
