Gathering Shadows (Finding Sanctuary #1) by Nancy Mehl {Review}
It has been a while since I’ve posted a good review for you guys here. Let’s just say, life has reorganized itself and I am finding more inspiration to get back to what I love. For the last several weeks, into the night as my kiddos and Enginerd slept I have been reading some of my backlog of books and most recently I finished a good Mennonite mystery thriller, Gathering Shadows from Nancy Mehl. I really need to catch up on her stories! One of the things that I love about going through my backlog of books to read is when I find one that is timeless and…

Forever Doon by Carey Corp & Lorie Langdon {Review}
For Vee, Jamie, Kenna, and Duncan, saving their kingdom while keeping their lives intact will take a miracle in Forever Doon. Forever Doon Originally, I requested Forever Doon as a review book through the Book Look Bloggers network, but shortly thereafter I bought myself Kindle eBook copies of the entire Doon series by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon. So, if you want a real disclaimer, there it is. I was gifted with an eBook sample, but I need to own this eBook series in my life to make sure they’re available when my children are older and into a mature teen set to enjoy this adventure and journey as well. RELATED: Doon…

White Picket Fences by Susan Meissner {Review Refresh}
*This post has been review refreshed, as it was originally posted in 2009. It is now updated with my new format, thanks to the Ultimate Book Blogger Plugin on August 11, 2015.* When I heard about this new novel from Susan Meissner, I was extremely excited because to me The Shape of Mercy is now a classic that all students who study the Crucible should also have to read. While White Picket Fences is a completely different type of book it is still incredible writing. For me, I would not necessarily call it a favorite, but overall as a whole (redundant I know, but making a point here) I enjoyed…

Reasons to read an eBook novella
A few years ago you would never find me reading novellas, much lesson eBook novellas. However, time went on to where it was time, space, and financially-worthy for me to get an eReader. Then I discovered a freebie one day in the title of Gentleman of Her Dreams and read it. It was an author that I didn’t know but the cover and description were awesome. I loved every minute of it! You can read my review of that novella and the books in the series that it prequels as well (here). After this I became thirsty for anything written by the author Jen Turano and she remains a favorite…

Silver Spurs (Horses and Friends, #2) by Miralee Ferrell {Review}
In May, you may recall when I mentioned the first book in the Horses and Friends series, A Horse for Kate. The Horse and Friends Series is set to have four books so far. A Horse for Kate (Spring 2014) Silver Spurs (Summer 2015) Mystery Rider (Fall 2015) Blue Ribbon Trail Ride (Spring 2016) When I was a pre-teen, or tween, I definitely had fears and trusting God was a concept constantly on my mind. In Silver Spurs, Kate and her friend Tori have a tale of defeating their fears and entrusting God with their dreams. This one has a flair of the “means girls” that is so often found…

Fools Rush In (Weddings by Bella, #1) by Janice Thompson {Review Refresh}
 *This post is update with my new format. Originally posted in November 2009. Contemporary Romantic Comedy is the genre that author Janice Thompson’s new series Weddings by Bella falls within and boy does she know how to write it well. “Fools Rush In”, book #1 is a heart beating, goosebump raising, giggles under cover read. I was able to read this in less a day, which considering my teething, growth spurt experiencing, 3 month old daughter is quite the feat. *wink* Bella Rossi is a New Jersey Italian relocated with her whole family to the shores of Galveston, Texas and she never envisioned falling for a true to earth eastern…

The Icing on the Cake (Weddings by Design, #2) by Janice Thompson {Review Refresh}
*This post is updated with my new format on April 29, 2015. Originally posted in 2013. The Icing on the Cake by Janice Thompson is a read I needed just right when I had it available to read. As I sit here on the couch attempting by pen and paper to write this review which I will later type I wonder if it is a good time or if the anesthesia has fully worn off yet as I just misspelled icing… Life can be so complicated sometimes and a great past time or distraction may often be found on my bookshelf. This weekend (August 29th) it was found and filled…

Renaissance is a word with hope infused in every letter. Sophia, Meg, and Nora’s stories intersect, their lives will be indelibly changed as they each answer the question: What if renaissanceisn’t just a word? What if that’s what happens when you dare to believe that what is isn’t what has to be?
