[PINNABLE IMAGE 735xh] I know, I know, it’s been a while since you’ve seen a book review from me! The reading has calmed down as I’ve dived more into homeschooling and running around with a baby. Oh, wait, you missed that? Well, she’s just over seven months old now, my fourth child and third baby girl. The others are doing great and we’re addicted to adult coloring books! My eight and six year old girls are truly coming into learning patience and calming techniques with the privilege of being able to use Mama’s coloring books. 😉 All is Bright by Nancy Guthrie is one of my favorite seasonal books and I’m delighted to pull it out again this year, and I’m sure I will be continuing to work in it for years to come. The pages are double sided and this is the seemingly standard square shape for these type of coloring books.. . .
I was first introduced to Brave Girls through the storybook bible which we adore. Then we got pink t-shirts that are still a preferred favorite today. Yet after that, I got my hands on Faithful Friends a 90-day devotional. This is a little paperback book that is perfect for toting around and will fit in any little bag, I often catch it in my daughter’s backpack. There are illustrations, however in this book they are solely black and white. Faithful Friends is a devotional collection written for multiple different personalities and there is something for everyone within these pages. Each devotion will include: A relevant opening scripture from the Bible A thought-provoking devotion to build a young girl’s spirit An engaging closing prayer to help the reader navigate her day! The cover and the black and white images throughout appeal to both of my daughters, but especially the younger who. . .
Before Amen and Before Amen Prayer Journal. These last few weeks at my church in the Thursday morning Women’s Bible Study, we’ve been reading together through ‘Before Amen’ by Max Lucado. Let me tell you, I adore Max’s writing, it always touches my heart and soul. Last year I endured through Ann Voskamp’s ‘One Thousand Gifts’ and this year it was ‘Before Amen’. Boy… Max and Ann really know how to grab your heart strings! While I purchased the ‘Before Amen’ book from the church to go with the study, I was blessed to get my hands on the ‘Before Amen Prayer Journal’ from the publisher as well as a gift of some key fobs. What a wonderful gift! I gave out the key fobs to everyone in our class and it was a perfect number, God planned ‘eh? Max has come up with a miniature prayer to get the. . .
On our shelves we have Max Lucado board books, a treasury, The Story for Little Ones, The Story for Children, and The Christmas Story for Children so I was delighted when I saw a gift-worthy treasury of prayers. Teaching our children poetry, and teaching them to pray is so valuable and a special part of our lives. This treasury is a beautiful tool to help do so. The Lucado Treasury of Bedtime Prayers presents classic rhyming prayers and Lucado originals in a gorgeous presentation for any family to use. An excellent gift idea! Anyone with a young child will benefit so well from this book and I couldn’t recommend it more highly.
With the compassion of a pastor, the heart of a storyteller, and the joy of one who has seen what God can do, Max explores the story of Joseph and the truth of Genesis 50:20. What Satan intends for evil, God redeems for good.
Bold, sophisticated, and flirtatious, Army Air Force flight nurse Lt. Kay Jobson collects hearts wherever she flies, leaving men pining in airfields all across Europe. So how can ruggedly handsome C-47 pilot Lt. Roger Cooper be all but immune to her considerable charms? In fact, he seems to do everything he can to avoid her.
“Prayers for Girls “and “Prayers for Boys” are great choices for parents looking to introduce children to the importance of prayer.
Be inspired to see how your day-to-day story intersects with God’s grand, overarching epic of everlasting redemption. Your journey of faith will come alive as you explore the divine narrative through New Testament and contemporary characters, and discover how the Bible reveals God’s plan for you today.
*This post is updated with my new format on May 7, 2015. What a colorful little book this is. With excerpts from the International Children’s Bible this is a great tool for young girls (ages 4-7 approximately) to learn to grow in their relationship with Christ as well as into themselves and the princesses that they are. I was a little thrown at first reading the scripture realizing the parts that were missing, but that was before I knew that this was with excerpts and references to scripture and not a full Bible. The main points are there and other parts are left open that would encourage discussion of further depth into scripture at least in my opinion. “Every girl is a princess, the daughter of a King… the greatest King who created and rules over everything!” The features through out this Bible are amazing and fun. There is a. . .
