History for 4th Grade recommendations…
What would you recommend for fourth grade history is a question that came up recently. The wheels in my brain started turning and as I fielded text messages and thought about emails I could forward or send, I thought about how I might be able to organize some thoughts into a blog post to help others that may have a similar question. For reference, this year, I will be teaching ninth, sixth, third, kindergarten, and preschool. We have been homeschooling from the beginning. 4th Grade History Recommendations There are so many options for homeschool material these days and truly it can be done without curriculum, however, if you are looking…

Easy Grammar Plus {Review}
Grammar is a subject that I have not found the best fit for our homeschool yet, so I am consistently curious to find the best curricula for us. I was very intrigued when an opportunity to review a product from Easy Grammar Systems came across my radar. I immediately thought that this would work with my oldest daughter as an overall and be a perfect review to fill any holes as we are entering the logic stage of our Classical Education journey. For the purposes of this review, I was blessed with a huge paperback copy of Easy Grammar Plus. I am told that this is frequently used as a…

Memoria Scholé Academy: 2019-2020 Week 2
Week Two was an interesting divergence. My struggling learner has taken on a new speed that I am not sure what to do with as she is completing several days worth of work and complaining that it is too easy and it is not enough for her to do in school. We just ordered new math for her little brother, and she is devastated that her needed level is not yet available. My advanced reader has hit a wall where a days worth of work is currently taking her 2-3 days to complete. And then, my newly Kindergartener is 1000% one day and all play the next, which makes following…

3rd Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices
[insert stack photo] But wait! Didn’t your AppleBlossom start Third Grade in the fall of 2016?! Well yes, but in the February following, we kinda started over. So she is currently third grade, she is currently still seven-years-old, or at least she will be for one more month eight. Oi! She will turn nine in the summer. We really found ourselves to be unhappy with the overall scheduling of the Veritas Press Scholars Academy Homeschool Diploma Program and only satisfied with a few of the curriculum choices. Therefore, we kept what we liked and kicked the rest to the curb. (Note: We love materials published by Veritas Press!) About AppleBlossom’s…

Planning Ahead & Changes (Spring 2017)
What do you think it is about February that gets the brain thinking ahead toward the next school year? While this post is intended to be a planning ahead details for what we will do in the next school year, at the same time, I suppose, it is also a what’s up from what’s working and what’s not from the current school year. Hmm… or maybe this should be two posts? I guess I will just start typing and see how things work out in the end. The 2016-2017 school year for us included an advanced seven-year-old book loving third grader and a spirited attention-span of a butterfly fresh kindergartener with…

Our 2015-2016 year is the first year where we really are adding in the subject Spelling. We have been blessed with the opportunity to review Horizons 2nd Grade Spelling & Vocabulary Set and what a blessing it has turned out to be! Horizons is one of several imprints from Alpha Omega Publications ~ (http://aophomeschooling.com/TOS) and one I’ve been drooling over since I discovered them at an expo conference a few years ago.
