IXL | Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, & Spanish (Online Practice) {Review}
Many years ago, we introduced the concept of computer school to our homeschool situation with online math practice. Back in 2014, I believe that my introduction to IXL Math and IXL Language Arts is still one of our favorite review product items. We continued to pay for a membership in the years following our original review. My oldest daughter (AppleBlossom) started IXL around age five and I have been thrilled to watch all the improvements over the years. It is great, it has been great, and it is only getting better. IXL was my middle daughter’s (the Princess) introduction to working with technology devices including computers, desktop, laptop, iPad tablets, and…

Hake/Saxon Grammar & Writing 3 (Hake Publishing) {Review}
Grammar. Grammar. Just the word makes me shudder just a bit. Today, I want to tell you about something that soothes this mama-fear with a brand-new program from Hake Publishing known as Hake/Saxon Grammar and Writing 3. Personally, I am just terrible at grammar, it just doesn’t stick or make sense for me and I am constantly trying to learn more every day. This is a fear that I do not want to instill in my child learners. So, I’m fully open to recommendations of how to teach grammar thus, I was over-the-moon pleased to be blessed with the opportunity to review the brand-new, earliest level of Hake/Saxon Grammar and Writing 3. Life Long Learning sparked with Home School Navigator Reading and Language Arts (Online) {Review}
For the past few weeks, the three students of the Creative Madness Mama Blossom School have been doing something different in using the Red, Orange, and Indigo Level of Home School Navigator Reading and Language Arts Curriculum from Home School Navigator. For the purposes of this review, we were given 12 months access to the Home School Navigator online program. We started out with several weeks with full access to all the levels, until we found our appropriate spot for each child’s skill levels. Now, the other levels have closed and our progress is continuing on a level per child. Note: all my children will have a birthday in the next…

Eclectic Foundations Language Arts (with McGuffey Readers) {Review}
My plotting and planning for homeschooling my kiddos has been years in effort. One of my earliest purchases has been a set of the McGuffey Eclectic Readers. I have them, but we’ve never really had a plan about how to go about using them, that is until now with the addition of Eclectic Foundations Language Arts program to our curriculum pile. Thanks to the blessing of the Homeschool Review Crew, we were blessed with a set of Eclectic Foundations Language Arts Level C materials for review. I am utilizing these with my third grade daughter. She is an excellent reader, and reads all the time, but does not like to read aloud…

Sentence Diagramming (Critical Thinking Co.) {Review}
While quite often we use a full curriculum, every once in a while we really want to focus on something to firmly learn a skill. This is one of the things that I adore about The Critical Thinking Co.™ and I have found myself super excited about their brand new Sentence Diagramming: Beginning (Grades: 3-12+) book. We have been doing lesson after lesson and really enjoying ourselves as well as learning and firming our language art skills previously worked on in the past as well. For the purposes of this review, we received a 68-page paperback 8×11″ book with 12 lessons through out on a beginning level. I believe there will also…

Well-Ordered Language: The Curious Child’s Guide to Grammar (WOL) {Review}
*After reading my review, you might want to check out the free homeschool guide for adapting the current version of WOL. You might recognize my words. 😉 Have you pondered over the Course Plan of Study in the front of the Classical Academic Press catalog and wondered what you should do for your grammar study? Sure, you could do that repetitive scripted wonderfully hand-holding one, or you could immerse yourself in the jingle heavy one that is confusing to get started. Why couldn’t CAP just have their own program to fill the grammar gap? Oh, wait they will! WOL or rather the Well-Ordered Language is the Curious Child’s Guide to…

Practice, practice, practice! and it’s fun!! (with IXL!)
What an incredible year this has been for reviews, I’ve been especially pleased in finding new curriculum ideas for our homeschooling life. Some have been wonderful and will be new staples in our regimen, while others have been neat and we might continue if a budget allows. One program we have been blessed to discover and experience for the last several weeks that will definitely be a program on my go-list is IXL ~ (http://www.IXL.com/). In the past, I’ve seen sales for IXL (such as through the co-op) and I’ve seen their ads and banners on blog sidebars, but I never really knew what it was about… Through the blessing of…

Logic of English: Foundations, Level A Cursive (Science of Reading) {Review}
(This is a long post... I've debating breaking it into parts... but oh well.) Today, I get to share with you a new treasure to our family in our homeschool curriculum and I'm delighted to review this new-to-me program that I definitely want to stick with on further levels in the Logic of English ~ (http://www.LogicofEnglish.com). I was granted the blessing to obtain and use Foundations, Level A as well as a set of reusable resources, and the iOS Doodling Dragons App. I was curious about the curriculum, but had no idea the delight that we were in for on this adventure!
