CTCMath Online Maths Tutor {Review, 4th Year}

While it is true that I was on the Math Team in my youth, mathematics is not always my favorite subject to teach. This is why CTCMath Online Maths Tutor is a real blessing to my family, we started with an Single Membership several years ago, but right now a Family Membership is exactly what we need as I have added three of my students to our account. For the purposes of this review, we received a one-year subscription added on to our account, and by the way homeschoolers can get 60% off + 6 bonus months. If you’re curious, check out the Free Trial!! (These two promotions end November 15, 2017!) What is it? CTCMath is an online membership. Our account is set to a Family Membership, and each of my three students have a unique login and dashboard. Over the past several years since I first started using. . .

Times Tables the Fun Way (online subscription) {Review}

This year has prompted many new things, especially in math skills for my third grade daughter. When we started the year she was working on a fourth grade math level, and learning the beginning basics of multiplication. She is doing well, but I was excited to jump into the possibility of a review product for enhancing her skills to learn multiplication facts. Through the blessing of the Homeschool Review Crew, we were granted a three month subscription to Times Tables the Fun Way from Times Alive. In this subscription, we have three months to utilize the program to teach multiplication. I’ve found after my daughter completed the 18 lessons within two weeks this may be one of the best ways to learn multiplication and teach times tables, indeed! We “bought” the account and registered and were given special login information. Interesting, and one of the first things to note is that. . .

CTC Math Online Maths Tutor {Review, 3rd year}

In 2014 we were introduced to CTCMath and discovered the benefit to an online school program and the joy that can be found with such an addition to our homeschool day. CTCMath has been renewed in our homeschool going on our third year, and we are reviewing this one-year subscription to CTCMath Homeschool Membership thanks to our participation with the TOS Homeschool Review Crew. What a blessing this is! CTCMath is an online math program. We successfully use it on my iMac desktop, Linux-based Ubuntu laptop running a moderated Chrome browser, iPad1, iPad2 both in the Safari browser with little to no issue. We’ve enjoyed it in years past, and this year my turning-five-years-old-next-week daughter is really getting the benefit of the program as well! We use the program daily during the weekday and sometimes on weekends as well. The girls are both eager to work with CTCMath and consider it a reward. . .

2014-2015 Curriculum Thoughts (Looking Back)

This has been a hectic year. This has been an amazing year. I had a baby. I blogged books, quilts, cross stitch, and homeschool stuff. I also taught a combination of Tot School and K5/1st Grade. I found some new things to love, and I discovered some things that just weren’t an appropriate fit. Love! (Backlinks of joy) Memoria Press First Grade (Advice) Memoria Press First Start Reading (Phonics) Memoria Press Kindergarten (Series) Creative Madness Mama Blossom School on a Normal Day Logic of English Foundations Lightning Literature 2014-2015 Wrap Up Blog Hop Landing Page (Visit other bloggers!) Last year, the curriculum that I chose was suppose to take AppleBlossom two years to complete. It was suppose to be K5 that merged into 1st Grade as time went on. However, she finished all of the First Grade materials, or is very nearly so through with them as of now. She. . .

CTC Math Online Maths Tutor {Review, 2nd year}

I guess it was about April, last year when I discovered online school programs, or what I called Science Computer School and a Math Computer School Program. Last year, you might have seen my review, when I was first introduced to CTC Math  ~  http://www.CTCMath.com and blessed with their 12 Month Family Plan for their US Curriculum. Again this year I have that blessing! Last year I was extremely intimidated by the idea of starting online school programs, but now we have found them to be a delightful part of our schooling. Right now my daughter is working to master her addition facts, subtraction facts, and becoming introduced to multiplication theory and facts. Sometimes as we have been going about our school day, we need a little bit of reinforcement or a different way to introduce how-to do a math problem. CTC Math has provided an awesome way to do. . .

A+ Interactive Math Placement Test {Online Math}

In our experience so far we have been extremely blessed with our math curricula and AppleBlossom is staying on target, but it is still early and in the future we will most likely need to know our options if she or her sister just doesn’t get it (already I can tell that teaching her little sister is going to be a patience-testing endeavour). The online software of A+ Interactive Math ~ (http://www.APlusTutorSoft.com) comes from a neat company with lots of products available. One such product is the Adaptive Placement Test and Individualized Lesson Plan, this is a three month subscription. For the purposes of this review, I was blessed with access for two students and we found that it was all completely above OrangeBlossom’s preschool and basic kindergarten level and nearly so for AppleBlossom, but we kept on with her on the First Grade level. More Information from Vendor: Top. . .

Memoria Press Kindergarten {Review – Part III – Mathematics or Arithmetic}

CMM CCC-K

Next on our schedule I believe, is Mathematics. Going in, I knew our year with Memoria Press Kindergarten would be great, but I didn’t know what parts were going to help add up to that greatness. One of my biggest surprises was in the math department. The full curriculum package provided by Memoria Press for their Kindergarten Classical Core Curriculum utilizes not only the Numbers Books series from Memoria Press, but also Rod & Staff Beginning Arithmetic 1, Part 1 (and the Teacher’s Edition and Practice Sheets). I really wavered on whether or not I would use R&S math or something else, I kept hearing about so many people just substituting in something they already liked. For me personally, I know I liked the higher levels of Saxon math but not the Larson elementary years. I don’t really know anything about Singapore, and we’re not willing to just throw it to. . .

Practice, practice, practice! and it’s fun!! (with IXL!)

What an incredible year this has been for reviews, I’ve been especially pleased in finding new curriculum ideas for our homeschooling life. Some have been wonderful and will be new staples in our regimen, while others have been neat and we might continue if a budget allows. One program we have been blessed to discover and experience for the last several weeks that will definitely be a program on my go-list is IXL ~ (http://www.IXL.com/). In the past, I’ve seen sales for IXL (such as through the co-op) and I’ve seen their ads and banners on blog sidebars, but I never really knew what it was about…  Through the blessing of the TOS Homeschool Review Crew, I have been blessed to gain access to both the IXL Math and IXL Language Arts for one year with an account for both of my students. I’ve been using this with AppleBlossom (age 5 years, 3.5 months). . .

CTC Math – Math Computer School

In the end of February you might remember when I reviewed a Science Computer School Program, well today I want to share with you about a Math Computer School Program in review. Another winner for our opinion! With a little bit of a repeat for an introduction to my review for CTC Math (12 Month Family Plan), I want to share with you that the idea of getting involved in “computer school” was a bit daunting for me. Most of what we do in school is from books and interaction. While I’m not opposed and definitely use videos and mp3s when appropriate as well as a plethora of sites for printables, the idea of sitting my girls down in front of a computer that they take charge of in a program is a good bit daunting. While I hear rave reviews of things such as Starfall and the like for. . .

Memoria Press Junior Kindergarten {Review – Part III – Math}

CMM JrK Review

Alrighty, so far I’ve told you about the Junior Kindergarten Lesson Plans For One Year and the Phonics books portion of Jr. K. Now I want to tell you about the Math and Numbers portion of the curriculum.
