Memoria Scholé Academy: 2019-2020 Week 1
We started strong with our school year in Memoria Scholé Academy. Essentially, my students are 5th Grade (10), 3rd Grade with a Simply Classical path (8), Kindergarten in a relaxed manner (5), and tot-Preschool (2), with a new addition expected around Thanksgiving this autumn. Thus, it was really important to me for us to start strong! While there are a few bits of our last school year that I would like for the older girls to continue to flesh out, especially in math, we began August 12th, 2019 as our new year. View this post on Instagram Day 1 (yesterday) is in the books for 2019-2020 for 5th,…

Classical Christian Education Kindergarten: Memoria Press vs. Veritas Press
Late last week, in a forum someone asked if anyone could compare the Kindergarten programs from Veritas Press and Memoria Press. I have experience with both and can gladly compare the two very different programs for you. Just so you know, I love parts of both and think both have their merits. In the end, I lean more to MP, but it is a long story and I still love material from VP. Please note, I do recommend materials from both publishers and appreciate the curriculum. I do have an affiliate relationship with Memoria Press and humbly request you use my links if you decide to purchase from them. Veritas…

What materials do you use to teach reading?
Hello friends! As of January 2019, I have an affiliate account with Memoria Press. If you’re here, you know how passionate I am about Memoria Press. Please bless my family by using our links. Learning how to read is possibly the first essential skill in education, but how to teach it? How do you teach reading? There are programs, and curriculum galore available. There is just using phonics or alphabet flashcards. There are interactive apps for mobile devices and websites. There is the option to just read to them and point things out here and there. And there are also educational DVDs. Which direction to go? This doesn’t even touch…

The last portion of the Classical Core Curriculum for Kindergarten Lesson Plans for One Year and package is my absolute favorite. Even if you are happy with your phonics, math, and copywork elsewhere you cannot beat Memoria Press’ new Enrichment Guide books. In the main Lesson Plans, you are provided with the schedule for a read-aloud book for the week on Monday, music and art for Tuesday, poetry on Wednesday, history and culture (aka social studies and…

Next on our schedule I believe, is Mathematics. Going in, I knew our year with Memoria Press Kindergarten would be great, but I didn’t know what parts were going to help add up to that greatness. One of my biggest surprises was in the math department. The full curriculum package provided by Memoria Press for their Kindergarten Classical Core Curriculum utilizes not only the Numbers Books series from Memoria Press, but also Rod & Staff Beginning Arithmetic…

Favorite Curriculum Choices – How to answer that???
Hello friends! As of January 2019, I have an affiliate account with Memoria Press. If you’re here, you know how passionate I am about Memoria Press. Please bless my family by using our links. So here I was, minding my own business and updating my “Previous Curricula” page. Then I was drafting out a “plan” post for the summer and fall to come this year when I stumbled upon the calendar for the TOS Crew where I had the option to participate in a blog carnival with the theme of sharing my Favorite Curriculum Choices. How appropriate that my mind is already here!? I figure that I could just…

Hello friends! As of January 2019, I have an affiliate account with Memoria Press. If you’re here, you know how passionate I am about Memoria Press. Please bless my family by using our links. AppleBlossom and I have made it halfway through Memoria Press Kindergarten and we’re loving it. We started early with the expectancy of a new child addition in mid-Spring, but when that was met with miscarriage, we took some time off, but then we ended up right on time with the Halloween books at Halloween, Thanksgiving with Thanksgiving and Christmas and Advent stories with the season, so it all works out. Now it will be the…

The Little Fir Tree by Margaret Wise Brown {Christmas}
Once there was a tree that stood in a field away from the other trees. It longed to be part of the forest—or part of anything at all. After many lonely years, its dream came true. And the little fir tree's life changed forever!
