Crafty moi

In the past few weeks, I have been very busy attempting to be crafty. I have been sewing the rows of my Batik Star BOM Quilt to the sashing, and now the only step left is to sew it all together. Other things that have kept me at the sewing machine are baby gifts. *grin* I was able to make a bib for my friend Lindsey’s Emma and also a couple blankets and other things for my friend Amy’s brand new Tristan. Also, I was able to make somethings for the newest babies in our church (a girl born in November – my birthday actually – and a boy born in December). Also, I made a dish cloth for my DH’s grandmother (she’s 91!). These things have kept me busy and I love it! I even made my self something… I could not help it!! My mother is running a. . .

Quilting Day – Thursday, continued later on…

Last night I decided to work on “the green quilt”. This was originally picked out because I was going to make it for the futon… while now the futon is in the Quilting Den, it is not quite as high up on my list of things to complete… Not like when it was in the living room… but then the quilt could still be used there… Well last night and today I spent HOURS cutting these six and a half inch strips only to discover that when I was sewing them together that I was WRONG! It’s okay. 6 1/2″ is the right size, but the directions for this quilt were by strip piecing… Meaning, I was suppose to take these 2″ x WOF (width of fabric) strips (see in picture) and sew them together in sets, then cut them as a whole to 6 1/2″. Yeah… I just created. . .

Quilting and Cats

Last night I made the ruling that Thursday is quilting day, and from that I was inspired and was able to complete my two outstanding quilt BOMs from Quilts & Fixins. Now there are just two blocks left and to put it all together. With this last one (yellow, green, and blue) I received instructions on finishing the quilt and I have some of the material, just missing the “bright” border. For more information or to see the previous blocks I have completed for this quilt click the tag “quilt” or “quilts” on the tag line. I really love this orange… I might use orange for the “bright” border instead of yellow… What do you think?? Patches and Hershey Kisses are very much into this cuddle season. I made a pallet on the floor in front of the fire, and there are I think six blankets that they are nestled. . .

Quilting Den

One of the absolute best things about my new house is the Quilting Den. Right now it is not much, and things are just piled everywhere, but it’s functional and that’s what counts. Here are a few pictures to show you what I mean… Ok. Here you can see, while I’m standing in the center of the room facing the Quilting/Sewing area. Patches is delighted about carpet being everywhere in the house, and you can constantly see her stretched out enjoyed it. *grin* Hershey apparently has decided that my “work table” is very functional as well as comfortable… On these shelves you see my HP collection, The Inheritance Series, Hobbit, LOTR, Narnia, Maid Marian, The King Raven Series, The Heretic Queen (my sister has Princess Ben and Neftertiti) and the Twilight Saga. On the other shelf my B&N Leatherbound Classics and then part of my Bible collection. On the back. . .
