Memoria Scholé Academy: 2019-2020 Week 1
We started strong with our school year in Memoria Scholé Academy. Essentially, my students are 5th Grade (10), 3rd Grade with a Simply Classical path (8), Kindergarten in a relaxed manner (5), and tot-Preschool (2), with a new addition expected around Thanksgiving this autumn. Thus, it was really important to me for us to start strong! While there are a few bits of our last school year that I would like for the older girls to continue to flesh out, especially in math, we began August 12th, 2019 as our new year. View this post on Instagram Day 1 (yesterday) is in the books for 2019-2020 for 5th,…

American History Resources, What are your favorites?
This school year, I am teaching students in respectively 4th, 2nd, and PreK (and tot school!) Grades. We decided this year to really pour on the steam and study American History. Brought on from a hiatus of immersion in the ancients and a brief foray into the middle ages. As I’m starting to gather all of the American History resources that I have collected over the years into one place, I’m curious as to what others use to bring US History alive for your students. What are your favorite American History Resources? As we are a few weeks (has it been months?) into this study I am already starting to…

Memoria Scholé Academy: January 23rd, 2019
It is time for a check-in! This is not a Saturday Post, but perhaps, I should start writing those again, too… Hello, friends! Welcome to the Creative Madness Mama blog and I’m glad you are here to hear about the latest in our days of Memoria Scholé Academy. Right now, my students are baby-underfoot, 4-year-old Junior Kindergartener (occasionally), 7-year-old Simply Classical Level 3/Memoria Press 2nd Grader, and 9-year-old working hard to move from Memoria Press 3M to 4M. We love Memoria Press materials, and I am newly an affiliate, so please bless our family by using our links for your next purchase from them! Yet, we also use more resources in…

1st Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices 2017
[insert stack photo] My Princess has taken a slower, but perhaps more average start and stance on the idea of schooling. Mostly, if it is not somehow princess related she is not particularly interested. I have found printables and coloring hands-on activities are very appealing for her and find that a different direction from her sister is indeed warranted. This past year has found so many changes in her personality and behavior that indeed I believe that this will be the first real school year with a routine set for her. Although, she is my “spirited” child, so that may change… My five-year-old, six in the beginning of August, Princess…

Laughing at myself – curriculum thoughts
Today I stumbled across an old forum post that I wrote about this time last year. I hope I’m not too late to join the party! The Princess, is my “spirited” four year old. Night and day scholastic comparison to her sister (my six year old accelerated student, finishing second grade) so it is quite the adventure to try to understand her. We have been using Preschool, then SC:A-C. With the older, it was checkbox it all and keep trekking. With the Princess, we have two good days and then she refuses it all and prefers disruption and drama. I’ve given up on structure with her for now. We pick…

Wrapping Up Weeks 1-3 (2015-2016)
Homeschool Edition! Hello friends! As of January 2019, I have an affiliate account with Memoria Press. If you’re here, you know how passionate I am about Memoria Press. Please bless my family by using our links. Homeschool is our way of life Technically as far as schedules go we should really be starting school the day after Labor Day, but with new review products arriving, sale prices of online curriculum, and my daughter’s begging to do the next thing – we went a head and jumped in and started the week as the birthdays went by. That seems to be a pretty good plan for us. Summer between the birthdays…

Wrapping Up the End of the Homeschool Year (2014-2015 Edition)
End of the school-year, well it should be… but I guess this is more of a check in. Last year I wrote an end of the school-year wrap up post and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that same date was coming up on the calendar for this year. In the past year I’ve continued on with my eager-to-learn five year old, discovered my attention-span-of-a-butterfly three year doesn’t want to pipe down into school time like her sister, and added a baby brother nearing on ten months old to the mix. Wow. We’ve started a kitchen garden and attempted our first true unit study. We’ve discovered more curricula…

I'm a fan of anything and everything from Memoria Press and I really want to share my opinions with you.

PreK3 Curriculum for 2014-2015
Hello friends! As of January 2019, I have an affiliate account with Memoria Press. If you’re here, you know how passionate I am about Memoria Press. Please bless my family by using our links. Having just finished drafting my post for the K5 Curriculum (even if it is six months late!) I figured perhaps I should also write a post for our PreK3 Curriculum this year as well. As my second child is entering into the world of academia I am learning some important lessons. While AppleBlossom was ready to jump and run early on and loves workbooks and “doing school” things… her sister is, well… a free spirit. OrangeBlossom…
