How to Teach Writing at Home (IEW®) {Review}
Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. This post contains affiliate links. As a student, I do not consider myself to be a very capable writer. As a teacher, the concept of teaching writing to my students is very overwhelming. I want them to be better than I am and I want them to have confidence in the process of writing instead of fear. More times than I can even possibly commit to counting I have had the recommendation of…

Jump In, 2ed (Homeschool Writing with Sharon Watson) {Review}
This past year has been a year of so many changes and growth in my oldest student. One of the skills that we are just starting to chip away at the surfaces of is Writing. I always tell people that it is ironic that I ever started a blog. I love to read and review things to share with other people and this all started as a way for me to share great books to read. However, I have always been fairly poor at grammar and have never felt comfortable in my own personal writing skills. In our adventures of homeschooling, I pray that my students will find themselves much…

Grade 1 Lightning & Lit Set (Hewitt Homeschooling) {Review}
It is hard to believe that it was about five years ago when I was first introduced to Hewitt Homeschooling Resources materials and their Lightning Literature & Composition studies. Once again, years later and a different student I have found myself to be blessed with the opportunity to review the Grade 1 Lightning Lit Set. I have found it amazing how different a journey can be with a different student. We were sent a physical paperback Teacher’s Guide and Student Workbook. They appear to be the same high-quality material that we received five years ago, proof of something that continues to work and work well. The products I received are…

Fix It! Grammar The Nose Tree (IEW Grammar Curriculum) {Review}
As I sat down and asked my girls, “Tell me about the Fix It! Grammar Curriculum,” my daughter looked at me, grinned and said, “I like it!” My middle daughter said, “It is nice and fun to do.” In our family, and little Memoria Schole Academy homeschool, we really love the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW)and I have found myself consistently adding more of their programs and products to our homeschool shelves in many different subjects. Fix It! Grammar: The Nose Tree Book 1is just the latest of our additions.

Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW): Teaching Writing, Structure & Style {Review}
We are still in the beginning of our homeschool journey, yet for years, I have heard about the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) and their main program Teaching Writing, Structure and Style (TWSS). My SisterL sings their praises and uses the program with her children as well. If you’ve been around my blog at all you know that we are fans of the Memoria Press Classical Core Curriculum and more recently MP has recommended IEW Bible Heroes Writing Lessons in Structure and Style during the Second Grade year and has even added in IEW Fun and Fascinating Writing Lessons in Structure and Style to the MP Third Grade Curriculum package.…

Brookdale House Writing Through Medieval History Level 1 Cursive {Review}
Brookdale House ~(http://www.BrookdaleHouse.com) is a company that I have consistently seen participate in Charlotte Mason promotions and this is how I discovered them. In the past, I came across their Writing Through Ancient History Level 1 Cursive and I have been planning on printing out some pages eventually, but had not really come across the moment to do so. However, when through the TOS Crew an opportunity came up to review their Writing Through Medieval History Level 1 Cursive I found myself too eager not to try! For the purposes of this review, I was given access to a PDF of Writing Through Medieval History Level 1 Cursive and have printed the pages for…

The Story Template by Amy Deardon {Preview}
THE STORY TEMPLATE is a programmed learner that allows the writer to develop her story from chaos. The book uses a series of exercises for the writer to construct her story's four foundational pillars; learn how to use the "secret weapon" of story structure: the story template; build character depth and believable change; and construct subplots. THE STORY TEMPLATE then reviews writing techniques, and finishes with discussions of editing, writing the synopsis and query letter, submitting one's work to agents, and types of publishing that the writer may wish to pursue.
