[Old post, stuck in drafts. Enjoy months late.] Calendar Time The Children’s Book of Virtues, p. 38-39 “Boy Wanted” – This is neat and I think has finally cinched it that I’m going to buy a second copy of this one from the local used bookstore that I saw for my nephew. I think it would be a great gift, because we are really enjoying it. The Lion’s Storyteller Bedtime Book, p. 69-70 “The Knee-High Man” – The Berenstain Bears’ Big Book of Science and Nature, p. 98-99 Things People Do, p. 16-17 “The Farmer” Music: “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad“, and later after literature time “Sing a Song of Seasons” Math: Recitation: What are two types of numbers? Blossom School: Tues & Wed, April 16-17th, 2013

I’m so tired today. Physical therapy was all I could make it to this morning as I missed Yoga. My bed just wouldn’t let me go. I’ve added back a  song that I mistakenly deleted from my playlist on the machines from Kelly Clarkson, (What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You) Stronger. I’ve decided that is my workout song, so appropriate. Yesterday was a bit of an odd day, I was expecting to have the fourth part of my route canal, but all we did was take an x-ray to see how the bone was healing and plan to come back and do another one in four weeks. I’m actually not feeling too sick for the first time in forever, which clears up my head and makes me realize just how many reviews I want to get organized and share with you. (They’re all on Goodreads, if you want to have. . .

“Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” – Colossians 3:13 Forgiveness: I treat someone as if they never hurt me. AppleBlossom’s quote: Like when I’m bad, and I ask if you forgive me and you say yes.  Mama: Yes sweetheart, 77 times yes. The Children’s Book of Virtues, p. 19 The Tortoise and the Hare Eric Carle’s Animals Animals, p. 74-75 (Horses) The Berenstain Bears Big Book of Science and Nature, p. 88 (Mammals) – I need to go through and double check on page numbers. The P4/5 IG has certain numbers and while my original Big Book of Science were just the combined individual books with the original page numbers. The new 2013 edition is numbered from the front to the back, but it appears that these are seemingly off from the P4/5 suggestions, because it wouldn’t have made sense to start on p. 87 as recommended, but 88… so. . .

Croup

So, for an update. OrangeBlossom has croup. Steroids it is, and the fever is up and down. But we’re just dealing. Yesterday she was in my arms all day, today she’s all hyped up and crazy energetic. Gotta hate! love steroids in kiddos. But at least the swelling is down.

Today we went to the library for the first time this year. What is up with both librarians I interacted with being cranky? Seriously, would it hurt you to smile and not snap at every question I ask? Ugh. Maybe they hate me because I love books, because that would make sense right. … It took two trips to the car to deposit all my books and I didn’t even ask for help. I mean come on they’re busy, just standing there… right? No seriously, you don’t have to help me, but you can at least smile at me and my children so they don’t tell me they have nightmares about the mean lady at the book place. Geez.

Oh and my health front. Cannot seem to loose any weight, but the physical therapy on my hip is going well (too much exercise too fast from a birthing-never-recovered hip joint = Fun!) and my antibiotic is half done.

So now as to these four piles of books to add to my goodreads shelves… hmmm.. I’m getting to that.

Wednesday

As far as exercise and charting what I eat I’m doing really well. I might have already lost some weight, but then it could also be water/muscle/wavering… we’ll see. I’ve tried Yoga and enjoyed it and plan to go back. AppleBlossom did Kids Yoga this week and really loved it, according to the instructor she did really well with directions and paying attention, so that really makes me happy. I also did Zumba this week, and that was very cool. Also I got together with someone to work on hooping, and specifically to keep the hoop up. I tried a larger hoop and was able to do it instantly and after working with that one a bit I’ve had better luck with my own hoop. So there is hope after all!

However, I’m having the same type of pain in my left hip, from lower back radiating down the side to just above my knee that I had when I was in my mid-pregnancy with OrangeBlossom. I think it’s sciatica and it’s making me slow down. It doesn’t hurt to put pressure on the left, it hurts when I release pressure. I’m hoping that maybe I can see a physical therapist again and figure out what exercises were the ones that were like gold in 2011.

Today I did a fitness evaluation to see how “out of shape” I am and I think I actually surprised myself. I think she said we’ll repeat it in about 6 weeks or so. I do not have the results all typed out prettily, but from my memory I was great on balance and pretty impressive on flexibility. I’ll have to work on those pushups, situps and pull ups. They have a nifty pullup assisted machine and I can do 105#, so if I keep at it, and lose weight, maybe I’ll meet it in the middle and be able to do it. 🙂

Thursday

Yesterday it was triceps, I think that were sore. So far today different daily movements have had other muscles speak up. I think my pectorals and/or upper abdominal as well as the one that wraps around to my back I don’t remember it’s name 100% so I think I need to freshen up on my muscle anatomy. That was my favorite class in nursing school. – I don’t have access to a car today so I cannot go to the YMCA but I’ll plan to go to a Pilate’s class tomorrow to try it. Yesterday I tried yoga and I really liked it.

I’m excited and that makes this even better. But I need to figure out diet stuff. I still do not eat enough. I need to eat more calories in both protein and other to get out of a permanent starvation mode to convince my body to burn and not hold onto to weight.

I’m going to find my hooping Dvd and work on the stretches if nothing else. Also need to locate my yoga block and strap. I can do this!

YMCA

So, I’ve done it. I just started a family membership at the YMCA. It’s the first time the girls have been away from me with a caregiver and I’m free at last alone for a bit to exercise. We’ve already been twice this week and it’s only Tuesday! Yesterday I just signed in for everything, and today I started a 12 week orientation program where I’m learning the machines and such. I learned the cardio stuff and the weight lifting strength training things.

I’m actually excited! I cannot wait to go back and I’ve never felt that way about something like this before. I’m thinking about trying Yoga, maybe Pilates, maybe the toddler Yoga… We also went swimming today and OrangeBlossom jumped right in! AppleBlossom clung to the railing and stayed on the stairs, but that’s something right?!
